Utrecht, The Netherlands

A project with homeless people living in Utrecht.
I talked with many homeless people on different locations in Utrecht about their lives on the street.

Most of them carry a lot of bags with their personal possessions. I asked them for the most valuable object and pictured this in a portrait together with this ‘treasure’.
Then we talked about their whishes and I asked them to write down the most important one. Concentrating on this whish, with their eyes closed, I made a second portrait.

The installation shows some of the visible and invisible treasures from homeless people. Small carton boxes, gold on the inside, contain the pictures from reality.

The copper frames above are showing the second picture, enlarged and transparent, together with the handwritten whishes.
