REFUGEES
Utrecht, The Netherlands
2003

An art project with seven refugees from different countries.

instalation

Each object contains the past, the present and the future of one refugee.
Important moments from their lives are carved in the tree trunks. On the fabric (life-size shapes) they wrote about the problems, hopes and fears in their present situation.

On top their fingerprints are pictured. A document number refers to a portrait on the wall.

The (uncertain) future is a thin layer of white sand on the floor. The copper-wire, balancing in the middle, parallel to the tree trunks, is an enlarged copy from the lifeline in their hands.
